Constructed with almost no change orders, this elementary school was designed to serve as a modern model for the district and has since been adapted in other locations. Through creative use of cost effective materials, selective finishes, and carefully planned public and private spaces, the facility successfully provides inspired support for its K-5 enrollment and a broad range of community uses. The district’s desire to include built-in casework teaching stations to reduce furniture needs, was met through the design and construction of a mock-up classroom that was tested by district personnel, modified, and ultimately implemented with their input.
