Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. has had an ongoing relationship with the City of Trenton, NJ, since 1996 after initial selection to conduct a feasibility study for renovations to a trio of municipal buildings, including a classic 1920’s structure, a link structure, and large office building of modern construction. The project included reconfiguration of 100,000 Sq. Ft. and 400 employees.
The new design included efficient space design to alleviate overcrowding, response to budget constraints, continuance of government operations during construction, and a desire to enhance public support. We conducted extensive pre-renovation interviews with building occupants (from cabinet members and department heads to clerical workers) to develop square footage and configuration requirements for all usage.
Our planning included the selection and preparation of office swing space for departments and personnel during construction phasing. The renovated building was fully compatible with all ADA requirements; provided enhancing building security; separate plans for areas that need to be accessible to the public.
In addition, SGI prepared RFPs to support the City’s sale of old casework from the buildings in order to reduce the overall costs of the renovation and staged each office move right down to logistical scheduling of employee/office moves and providing packing materials for support. As the City’s needs evolve, Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. provides ongoing planning and architecture services for all of Trenton’s principal municipal buildings.
