WellSpan CityGate Surgical Center Named Central Penn Business Journal 2026 Top Projects Winner

Spiezle Architectural Group, in partnership with Heck Construction Company, Inc., is proud to announce that WellSpan CityGate Surgical Center has been named as one of Central Penn Business Journal’s 2026 Top Projects winners! This award recognizes the most notable building and construction projects in Central Pennsylvania, assessing factors such as innovation, creativity, design, and community impact.

The Oak Tree Development Group’s CityGate campus is a 34,000-SF facility in Lancaster, PA, which strengthens WellSpan’s presence in the region and expands access to specialty care and outpatient surgical services for surrounding communities. It houses an ambulatory surgery center with three operating rooms dedicated to orthopedic specialties, designed to support the future integration of a hybrid operating room and outpatient imaging capabilities, including general radiology and magnetic resonance imaging. Additional features include a blood draw laboratory, private central sterile processing, and 18 examination rooms for primary care and specialty physician practices, accommodating a higher volume of appointments.

Our Spiezle team designed the core and shell of the building as the second of two corresponding Class-A office buildings on the CityGate campus. We also spearheaded the development of complementary clean-lined buildings within the campus.

We are thankful for the trust and partnership, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Heck Construction, WellSpan, Oak Tree Development Group, and everyone involved in bringing this facility to life. This recognition reinforces the value of our healthcare design expertise and our commitment to creating comfortable, functional spaces for patients as they navigate their personalized medical needs.
