Pre-K Addition | Shrewsbury School District
Spiezle played a key role in guiding the $22.5 million referendum to success. Paired with the strong support of the Shrewsbury community, this milestone turned the District’s long-held vision of a dedicated Pre-K addition into reality. This addition represents a major step forward in providing early childhood education, giving the District’s youngest learners access to high-quality learning environments that support their development from the very start of their educational journey.

The Pre-K addition features three colorful classrooms, a versatile multipurpose room, a welcoming cafeteria with a full basketball court and bleachers, a new playground, and a secure entryway that enhances both safety and the arrival experience for students and families. By offering a dedicated, thoughtfully designed space for Pre-K students, the District is strengthening its educational foundation, supporting families, and helping ensure that children enter kindergarten ready to learn and thrive.
Throughout the addition are unique, personal touches, reflecting the District’s pride and passion. The exterior is brought to life with three bold, colorful volumes — green, blue, and orange — each echoing the hues of the classrooms inside. This playful design detail creates a seamless connection between the building’s welcoming façade and the vibrant learning spaces within.
At the heart of the addition is the cafeteria that now serves students with a proper cafeteria and doubles as a fully equipped gymnasium with a regulation basketball court and bleachers. Located at the center of the basketball court is a custom-designed logo by the school’s art teacher, created to reflect the school’s identity and spirit.
Balancing safety with a warm welcome, the new addition features a state-of-the-art vestibule designed to protect students and staff while creating a positive first impression for families and visitors.
Filled with natural light, vibrant colors, and flexible spaces, the Pre-K addition provides an enhanced learning environment that sparks creativity and curiosity while supporting a wide range of educational and recreational experiences. This transformative project reflects the District’s commitment to investing in its youngest learners and fostering a welcoming, future-ready space where children can grow, explore, and build the foundation for lifelong learning.
