NJBIZ Names Spiezle as 2023 Empowering Women Honoree

Spiezle is pleased to announce the company has been recognized as one of NJBIZ’s inaugural 2023 Empowering Women Honorees. The NJBIZ Empowering Women program was created to recognize companies and organizations that strongly commit to supporting and elevating women in New Jersey. The award criteria include that companies must have a mentoring program for women, can show a track record of recruiting and promoting women in their organization, and support programs that assist marginalized women.

“We are proud and humbled to receive this recognition from NJBIZ,” said Thomas S. Perrino, President and CEO at Spiezle Architectural Group. “At Spiezle, we have long valued and supported our female team members. Our firm is 42% women, which is significantly higher than the 27% industry average. In the last five years, more than half of our promotions were of our female employee-owners.”

Spiezle is also focused on the development of future generations of AEC professionals. The firm continues to deploy an internship program that introduces students to all facets of the AEC industry and provides hands-on, real-life experience with established mentors. This summer, 67% of Spiezle’s 2023 summer intern cohort are women.

Our in-house Women’s Leadership Committee (WLC) was founded in 2018 and is dedicated to providing inclusive and supportive environments and opportunities to elevate women’s voices within the company and in the construction and design industry. Applying five fundamental pillars of Wellness, Community Service, Professional Development, Mentorship, and Networking, the women of Spiezle are focused not only on career advancement, but also on creating healthy and thriving communities for the future.

“Increasing female visibility and providing opportunities for women in the industry to harness their skills, advance their careers, and engage in mentorship workshops is a large priority at our firm,” said Jill DiClementi, who is one of the leaders of the WLC and serves as an Associate Principal at Spiezle. “Although historically the AEC industry has been male dominated, we’ve created a culture that is empowering and enables women to take on leadership positions. We are honored to receive this distinguished recognition.”

NJBIZ honorees will be recognized at an in-person ceremony on Tuesday, August 1, at the Double Tree Hilton Somerset at 10:00 a.m. For more information, click here.
